Starscapes home-based business opportunity MILLION-$ IDEA

CLEANING UP!

$1 million in one year cleaning garages!

Peter Belman enjoys the ride! He left his corporate job to be his own boss with an exciting franchise concept.

If Peter Belman were playing baseball, he’d be batting 1,000. Perfect. Belman has been at the top of his game since becoming a GarageTek franchisee in October 2002, serving the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and surrounding communities in northern Virginia and Maryland. The biz is booming.

GarageTek is the brand leader and premier company in the garage organization and storage industry and Belman has been the franchisor’s top performer. In 2002, he was named GarageTek’s Rookie of the Year and followed that by being named Franchisee of the Year in both 2003 and 2004. It’s quite a ride.

It’s an impressive list of accomplishments for Belman and his nine-person staff that operates out of a 4,500-square-foot office/showroom located in a strip center in Rockville, MD. Belman said his GarageTek franchise has done more than 1,000 installations in three years and in 2006 has set a target of more than 500 installations. His showroom features a full-size, two-car garage completely outfitted with GarageTek organization and storage system.

Belman is matter-of-fact when asked what has contributed to his success. He said effective marketing has been GarageTek’s most effective tool. GarageTek’s brand awareness with affluent customers is twice that of its nearest competitor. Belman estimates that he sends out hundreds of thousands of direct-mail pieces each month and also advertises in high-end, lifestyle-oriented magazines. He’s on to something.
“It helps that I’m operating in a strong market,” Belman said of the Beltway’s affluence. “But we’ve done a good job of utilizing cost-effective marketing tools to reach our target audience that resonates and generates awareness of the GarageTek brand.”
