Starscapes home-based business opportunity

GREAT NEWS FOR INTERNAUTS

Check out this new free and unbiased online purchasing service for small business owners.

When Scott Snyder was transferred from Reston, Va., to Berwyn, Pa., he spent about six hours on the phone and assembled a precarious mountain of pamphlets, special offers and other literature on the kitchen table, simply trying to set up his telephone service.

Despite the fact that Scott is an Edison scholar, holds a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, and was Vice President of Government Telecommunications Services for Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications, regularly launching $200 million worth of equipment into space, he was unable to cut through the clutter and to make the best decision. Furthermore, he figured others were having similar or worse trouble choosing the correct service plan out of the hundreds available.

Hating to be defeated by something so mundane, the mathematician pondered the problem. It was then he realized that, like a rocket scientist attempting to launch an object into space, a telecom consumer has to make several decisions all at once - price range, customer service needs, usage patterns and other considerations.

This is not something that the human brain is capable of doing. Making multiple decisions was the strength of the satellite software he designed. So, he took the same principles of the satellite software and designed software that could give the home-mover, or the dissatisfied telecom customer, the decision making power of a supercomputer.

A meeting with a fellow Wharton graduate and friend, Tom Borger, convinced Scott that this was a successful idea. Scott left the very job that had given him this expertise and together they set up Wayne, Pa.-based start-up OmniChoice that helps residential consumers, and soon small businesses to sort out the mess that is utility, telecommunications and cable plans.

Tom Borger, Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for the overall vision and development of OmniChoice.Prior to co-founding OmniChoice in 1999, Tom was a key member of the management team at Qwest Internet Solutions. In addition, he led the team of strategic consultants charged with defining interactive strategies and building custom Internet applications to help businesses achieve their objectives.

Prior to that Tom spent 13 years in various sales and marketing roles with Johnson & Johnson, and SmithKline Beecham. He helped establish and build new businesses internationally for Johnson & Johnson having launched more than 15 new products in five different countries and served on the Board of Directors of two international business units. Domestically, he managed a $100mm business and launched three new products.

His strong track record of success includes a number of Achievement Awards at both SmithKline Beecham and Johnson & Johnson for significant contributions to the company beyond the scope of his job duties. Mr. Borger is a graduate of Duke University (Economics) and earned his MBA (Entrepreneurial Management/Marketing) from the Wharton School of Business

There's good news and there's good news! Our Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission are keeping utilities and telecommunications services competitive and OmniChoice (www.omnichoice.com), offers the free, unbiased BizOptimizer to help small business owners evaluate the options. Entrepreneurs can now evaluate and purchase telecom, utilities and Internet services from a single location.

The BizOptimizer is a sophisticated free web service that is the source for unbiased, customized decision tools for communications, energy and cable/satellite services.

This unique tool, exclusively available from OmniChoice, will allow businesspeople to quickly evaluate and purchase telecommunication, utilities and Internet service plans from a single location.

"Selecting the most appropriate service plan for a business requires a dedicated assessment of many complex factors beyond just price," said Tom Borger, CEO of OmniChoice.

"Most small businesses don't have a purchasing department or the time necessary to research all of the available options. The technology powering the BizOptimizer enables small business owners to quickly find and sign-up for the plan which best meets their individual needs."

Incorporating the patent pending OmniOptimizer (tm) technology, the free Service will act as an outsourced purchasing agent, finding the most appropriate services based on user preferences.

By answering a short series of questions, a user profile emerges which is then used by the site's sophisticated software to search OmniChoice's expansive database of providers and plans, finding the best solution in seconds.

The BizOptimizer considers a full range of customer preferences beyond price and compares them against every available option to determine the best plan. Purchase is just a click away.

According to a recent study published by AMI-Partners, core business services, such as telecommunications and utilities, account for almost 25% of a small business' operating expense.

AMI estimates that more than 70 percent of small businesses in the U.S. use wireless communications services, spending $17.6 billion on mobile phones and pagers alone in 1999. Spending on local and long-distance phone services topped $53 billion in that year, with another $7 billion spent on information services.

The BizOptimizer service is currently available in the New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, and San Francisco metropolitan areas. OmniChoice is expanding its robust database of providers and plans so that the OmniChoice advantage will be available to small businesses in every major metropolitan area by the end of the year.
