“I am incredibly passionate about supporting veterans and the organizations that help them,” said Lisa Wolford, president and CEO of Constellation West. “As a veteran, I truly identify with the cause of helping women veterans prepare for the civilian workforce, and I am glad to be a part of this event.” All women vets are invited to come and join in on the celebration.

The Stand Up for Women Vets event is open to all women veterans and service members. Participants will have an opportunity to get a free, new business-appropriate outfit, a makeover, professional styling tips, and a professionally edited head shot for their LinkedIn profile or other purposes. The goal of this day is for women vets to have fun and walk away with something useful for the civilian work world. Final Salute also hopes the women vets will be able to make connections with other women vets like themselves.

Final Salute Inc. was founded in November 2010 by Jaspen Boothe, who personally experienced the absence of programs in place for female veterans and became determined to ensure her fellow female veterans had a resource in their time of need. The organization was established to identify and meet the unique needs of homeless women veterans, and it gives 100 percent of earned fundraising dollars to provide transitional support for women veterans and their children. Final Salute has assisted more than 160 women veterans and children since 2011, and now operates three transitional homes in Alexandria, Va., Martinsburg, W.V. and Columbus, Ohio.

“I am putting women-owned, veteran-owned businesses at the forefront of everything we do as an organization,” said Boothe. “It is my hope that they will inspire others to honor the oath we all took to ‘never leave a fallen comrade.’”

Registration is required to attend this event for women vets;  please email victoria.standup2014@gmail.com to confirm.
