With Valentine’s Day approaching, businesses can come up with some creative ways to use the holiday to market to their customers. It’s a great time to show your appreciation for your customers and it’s fun for them to participate in holiday promotions and contests. Braun Barski, Founder of Keytag1.com – a key tags and plastic card printer — shares these five fun Valentine’s Day marketing strategies for businesses.
Valentine’s Day Promotions
1. Hold a contest
Valentine’s Day is a time for showing how much you care by spending time with your loved ones and exchanging gifts. You can hold a contest with a Valentine’s Day theme and giveaway a romantic dinner, weekend getaway, or some fun gifts. Maybe to enter the contest customers will have to make a purchase in order to receive a game piece or you can have them sign up for a mailing list or email newsletter and choose a winner from the list. Either way it’s a good idea to get customer information and emails for future marketing promotions.
2. Give away flowers
Does your business offer “buy 10 get 1 free” punch cards? Loyalty programs using key tags are an excellent way to get new business and repeat business. You can offer a similar deal where if a customer makes a certain amount of purchases, they receive one free bouquet of flowers on Valentine’s Day. You can also give away a box of chocolates, a teddy bear, candy, etc. Just make it holiday themed and customers will make those purchases in order to receive their free gift on Valentine’s Day.
3. Love is…
When customers visit your website, create a landing page that asks customers to answer the question, “What is love?” Tell customers that you will be picking the best and most creative answers to post on your Facebook and Twitter. It’s a fun way to engage customers and you can maybe offer a small prize to the best answer as an incentive for more people to submit their answers. Also make sure to ask for their name and email address for your email marketing list.
4. Blog about it
Write a blog listing your top Valentine’s Day date ideas or gift ideas for him and her. You can mention other brands in your blog and then give them a shoutout on Facebook letting them know you included them in your blog and ask if they will share it with their fans as well. You can also see if other blogs will be willing to accept your blog as a guest blog on their site so you can expand your audience.
5. Decorate your Facebook page
Facebook makes it easy to customize your business page for the holidays. You can create custom graphics and change your cover photo and profile photo for a special Valentine’s Day look. Share some love quotes on your page or Twitter profile and some cute Valentine’s Day cards. Your fans and followers will enjoy that your brand is getting into the spirit of the holiday and they will be more likely to interact with your brand online.
