Twitter can be a very useful marketing tool for your business. There are over 560 million users and it is often used as a forum to discuss recent news, pop culture, and personal opinions. I would urge all business owners to search for their company name in tweets and discover what people are saying about your brand. If you are new to Twitter, here are some top 5 tips to utilize.

Twitter Tip #1:

Create a professional business handle and upload your company logo to your twitter profile. Be sure to fill out the bio to allow for your customers to find you. Also, include to a link to your twitter handle on your company website and marketing materials.

Twitter Tip #2:

Twitter can be a valuable customer service tool. In today’s world, you will find that you will get a faster response on twitter as opposed to calling a 1-800 number to complain.

Twitter Tip #3:

A great way to build your following is to follow people back when they follow you. Don’t be afraid to make new friends on twitter. They are following you for a reason.

Twitter Tip #4:

Use hashtags. Hashtags are a way to categorize your tweet and take part in popular conversations that are occurring online. Pay specific attention to the hashtags that are trending and don’t be afraid to join the conversation.

Twitter Tip #5:

Respond quickly and promptly. The world of social media is very fast paced. If your customers have questions for you, make sure you answer them promptly! Most tweets are public and it is important that your company is viewed as responsive and helpful.

A company twitter account is a great opportunity to showcase the personality behind your business or brand. Use twitter as a way to quickly update your customers on business developments, hiring needs, product/services updates, and useful information for your target market.
