SBOMAG Roundup: Competitive Biker Buddies Invent Fit Desk

[ 0 ] Oct. 11, 2013 | SBO Editor

Co-workers Steve Ferrusi and Ryan Moore became biking buddies after deciding to compete in a 100-mile fundraiser for leukemia, a disease that claimed their friend.  When the then out of shape riders felt their desk jobs were weighing down their training hours, they attached a tabletop to a stationary bike; And FitDesk™ was born.

Now the three year old company that started out of Ryan’s garage has a 300% growth rate per year, international distribution and just recently sold their 10,000 FitDesk™. The line has expanded to include five products including the newly launched FitDesk™ 2.0. Additionally, FitDesk™ is launching FitStudent, a non-profit initiative debuting for the 2013/2014 school year, which will provide a classroom full of FitDesks to help promote healthy living and learning in our educational systems.

Exciting research has shown that the ever-growing company is not only helping consumers to live healthier lifestyles but improving their productivity as well. A recent study from the Kinetic Learning Academy and Florida State University shows that exercising while working actually improves cognitive abilities. This research sparked the idea for FitStudent and a few more creative ideas that are currently in the works. Visit www.fitdesk.net for more info.
