Marsha Sinetar coined the phrase, “do what you love and the money will follow,” and used it as the title for her groundbreaking book in the 1980s. It’s still the most important piece of advice to follow when launching your own small business. You are going to be spending all of your time on your new venture, so you had better really love and enjoy what you are doing.
Make a list of the things you love to do. Next, make a list of the things you are really good at. Is there any correlation? For example, say you love the outdoors, and you are really good at planning. Could you start some type of outdoor event or catering business? Try making these two lists and see what you come up with; it could be your dream small business.
