Startup Saturday: Launch A Parking Lot Cleanup Business

[ 0 ] May. 25, 2013 | SBO Editor

You can start your own parking lot cleanup venture for less than $100. It’s a business that you can run on a part-time basis to pick up extra cash until the venture grows into a full-time operation.

Basically, you contact commercial management companies at condo facilities, shopping centers, franchise owners, strip malls, etc. and ask them if they’ll pay you about $40-$50 to sweep their lots. Of course, if the lot is huge, you’ll be charging more money, but you should be able to complete the task for an average size lot in about an hour. You can also charge more if you are going to remove auto fluid leak debris.

You’ll need a shovel, a broom, garbage bags, gloves and a face mask to protect yourself from debris. A company called Masco Sweeper makes an industrial strength mini street sweeper that you can consider purchasing down the road if the business booms and you have too many lots to clean manually. This is a business that you will run at night when the stores are closed.

Brian Winch is an entrepreneur who runs cleanlots.com. Brian is the king of the parking lot cleanup business. He sells a manual for $39.95 that can teach you the particulars of starting and running this type of service in your community. Brian made $100,000 when he started this business and says you can do it, too!
