Avenza’s PDFMap App: Interactive GPS Tool with Photo-Sharing Capabilities

[ 1 ] Mar. 14, 2013 | SBO Editor

Traveling and worried about roaming charges?  Not when using Avenza’s PDF Map App, which combines the detail of a paper map with the interactivity of a GPS tool and photo-sharing capabilities.  Users can download maps of all kinds from the National Park Service, FAA and transit maps, and most recently from National Geographic, and store them for future use.  Users can use these maps off-line once they are downloaded and saved to an iPhone/iPad, and travelers can also see where they stand in relation to points of interest along their travel route.

PDF Maps is available now on the iTunes App Store free of charge for personal use. For more information about the app, visit the Avenza PDF Maps website at www.pdf-maps.com or Avenza’s main website at www.avenza.com. Pricing of each map is set by the publisher, and free maps remain free to users through the PDF Maps in-app map store.

This is an awesome app that I use all the time when I travel abroad or do local recreation. The embedde map store is kinda like iTunes for map and is actually quite ingenious.
