We get a lot of emails from readers asking us ‘how do I get rich’ and ‘how can I make more money this year?’
Of course, there is no simple formula, but here are a few points to help you get started on your personal road to riches. Marsha Sinetar wrote the book “Do What You Love And The Money Will Follow” in 1987 and the phrase sums up the concept of turning your passion into profit. As Harvey Mackay said, “Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”
–Take some time to analyze what you are good at, and then make a list of the things you love to do.
–Next, combine the two lists you’ve made and see if there are any obvious intersections. For example, if you are very good at details….and you love to throw parties….you have found common ground in perhaps launching a Party Planning or Event Business. If you are really good with animals….and you love photography…..your point of intersection might lead you to launch a Pet Photography business.
Work on your lists this weekend and see what develops. Once you’ve determined the business you will start, investigate all facets in your community. Will it work? Is there too much competition? Can you do it better, faster and cheaper? If you think you have a viable idea and business concept, take the next steps basic steps to getting rich–on a wide variety of levels. Come up with a name for your business, book the domain name. Start. It doesn’t have to be perfect 24/7 so don’t let that hold you back. As the great Ben & Jerry told us, “Entrepreneurs have to just start. Start from home, from the kitchen table, from the trunk of your car, but just start and refine the model along the way.”
