GiftHit: A Social Gifting Platform

[ 0 ] Feb. 26, 2013 | SBO Editor

GiftHit is a social gifting platform where friends can send each other real items from restaurants, bars, and shops as eGifts that are delivered by Facebook wallpost, email, or text.

GiftHit is the brainchild of Arielle and Natan, two New Yorkers who began dating after meeting at a random bar in the West Village in 2009. They love giving and getting gifts but felt that the gift exchange can create some really awkward scenarios. Should you get a birthday gift for someone after a second date or is a happy birthday wallpost enough? When is it too late to send that gift that’s sitting in your closet? Is there a #fail-safe gift that doesn’t break the bank? What do you get for the friend who has everything? What’s the best way to make someone smile after a bad day?

The couple set out to create an answer to these questions and in early 2012, GiftHit went live and quickly gained popularity as a fun and easy way to send a gift for every occasion and non-occasion. Treat a friend to a beer to make good on all the times you say “the next one’s on me” or gift a massage to a friend who had a bad day. “Sending a GiftHit is the the best way to say hi, happy birthday, sorry I stole your boyfriend, and just about anything,” said the duo.
