According to National Retail Federation data Valentine’s Day Spending Going Up Since Recession. Couples have been cutting back on Valentine’s Day spending since 2009, but they have been spending a bit more as of last year according to National Retail Federation data. They spent an average of $68.98 on one another in 2011, up from $63.34 in 2010. Spending today is expected to continue upward.
