How Designers Make Money In This Economy

New designers no longer have to wait for a lucky break to make it in the cutthroat fashion industry. New online marketplaces are making it easier for fresh designers to make a name for themselves, and do business online via Sense of Fashion (www.senseofashion.com) which allows a  platform for upcoming, budget-conscious fashion talent to showcase and sell their designs online.  Rather than incur the major expense of designing a website, marketing it and the rest, the entrepreneurs at Senseofashion have built a business around bringing together designers and allowing them to benefit from one another.

With various online marketplaces making it easier to share and sell fresh, new fashion brands online, up-and-coming talent is becoming more and more popular amongst trendsetters, young and old. Looking for a unique, vintage or one-off piece of clothing or jewelry? Now there’s a place for that! It is a budding industry with a lot of potential, and a lot of money to be made. Now that there are various online platforms showcasing new designers, the talent is being more selective about where they sell their goods. They are looking for a stage to show their products in a way that makes them stand out from the crowd — Sense of Fashion provides just that. Thanks to the success of a budding online presence on the Sense of Fashion website, designer Brittney Petty (Brittney Miranda Jewelry) was able to generate enough income to cut back on her day-to-day waitressing job and pursue her passion for design on a more full-time basis. Because of this, Petty says that she “can now make income doing what she loves to do!” There’s nothing better than that! As a young designer on a budget, Petty also found that “other sites make it difficult for an up-and-coming designer because, unlike Sense of Fashion, they charge listing and promotional fees, also adding that on other sites, her listings often went into ‘inactive mode’ after a set period of time, which meant more fees”.
