DO YOU HAVE A NEW TWIST FOR AN OLD IDEA?

[ 2 ] Jun. 10, 2011 | SBO Editor

If you have an idea for an invention and think everything has already been created, think again. Take a tried and true product and give it a twist! Remember shoulder rides as a kid? You loved every minute, but wished it lasted longer.

The Piggyback Rider™ is a mutually enjoyable, effortless way to carry a child (2½ – 7 years) on your back, replacing bulky backpack carriers and strollers. It functions like a backpack, utilizing a shoulder-mounted foot-bar to distribute the child’s weight (up to 60 lbs.) at your core, which enables a natural upright walking posture. The child stands firmly on the wide foot-bar, holding integrated grab handles and secured by a safety tether. For more info, visit

This is a terrible and seemingly unsafe idea! There are other ways to securely carry your child hands-free and comfortably. The harness doesn’t look like it could keep a child from slipping, and I’d imagine a child being much happier in a carrier that allows them to sit, instead of stand.
