The entry-level workplace has changed drastically over the last few years. We’ve seen some college student entrepreneurs and innovators lighting our way into a bright future. Everyone has to start somewhere though and internships have become a vital part of the college / early career experience.

Internships.com is helping to lead the way by matching student profile factors such as location, major, preferred industries, etc. with employer’s internship listings. Using a very complex algorithm, the company creates a stream of the best matches from their database and feeds it into the student’s home area on Internships.com.

Internships.com also enables students to build internship matches based on multiple factors and have those matches emailed to them daily, weekly or monthly so the student never misses a new internship opportunity. Students can set up matching filters based on location, employer type (such as non-profit, government, etc.), paid, full-time, part-time and industry specific opportunities.

The company is currently listing 42,745 internships from 15,461 companies in 1,813 cities nationwide and those numbers are rising quickly. Many of their competitors list less than 5,000 internship opportunities or are constrained by geographic boundaries. Internships.com has more than 212,000 visitors in New York, more than 117,000 visitors in Los Angeles, 78,000+ visitors from Washington DC and Chicago, and the list goes on.

The company built these software tools to address the need that employers have expressed they need. Internships.com conducted a survey revealing that 45% of the employers on Internships.com said they’ve proactively contacted interns instead of waiting for candidates to apply.
