CEO OF ELEMENTS–Chris Palumbo: Although the concept of an upscale fitness brand for women was a very strong one, it was very nearly impossible to get the elements brand launched.

The financial hurdles of launching a brand are steep, and often are insurmountable. Franchises are launched by multi million or multi billion dollar companies, and requires years and millions of dollars of credibility Is would not be enough, countless advisors told Chris, to simple create a brand, and raise the $200,000 in operating capital for a launch. Substantially more would be needed, or the company would not have the credibility to see and sustain its business.

While Palumbo believed that his years of industry experience and high-energy personality would be enough for a successful launch, countless investors, banks, hedge funds, and institutions told him no. He was even denied a loan from his own family, who believed the idea of launching a brand from scratch was far too risky.

Chris believed very strongly in the concept, and knew it would be a dynamic hit. He performed hours of market research, and was receiving such positive feedback from consumers on the idea.

He made the decision to launch elements on his own, with nothing more thana laptop computer and his savings. Leveraging his fitness industry contacts, Palumbo began the crusade of building PR and buzz around the elements brand, and was soon joined by another industry veteran, who loved and strongly believed in the brand. Together the two began to promote elements… working tirelessly for a full year with no franchise sales.

Once again, the belief in the brand was very strong, and the two believed that the hardship and work would pay off, but needed revenue to come in quickly, or all the work and effort would be in vain. After a long brainstorming session, the decision was made to continue, and not give up.

Soon after, the company sold its first franchise, and one week later, the second… success was on its way!
