Proforma, a leading provider of print and promotional products, achieves a record-breaking $30 million in systemwide sales. This represents a 10% increase over the previous record, achieved in December of 2006. These record-breaking sales come as Proforma prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2008.
“We are proud to announce this milestone in the growth of Proforma,” begins Greg Muzzillo, Founder and Co-CEO of Proforma.
“Proforma is focused on increasing systemwide sales through the retention and recruitment of quality Owners who believe in Proforma and in selling comprehensive business solutions to their customers. This record-breaking month is another exciting indication that Proforma is thriving and continuing with the steady growth that has characterized our last 30 years.”
Greg Muzzillo, a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College, founded both Proforma (1978) and PFG Ventures (1986 started franchising under Proforma; 1994 formed PFG Ventures). Under his guidance, the franchising operations have grown to over 650 owners, resulting in the company being named to the Inc. Magazine 500 list of Fastest Growing Companies.
Proforma was also named U.S. Small Business of the Year by President Reagan in 1985, Distributor of the Year by Trade West Magazine in 1996, #2 Print Distributor by Print Solutions Magazine in 2006 and #2 Top Distributor by BFL&S Magazine in 2006. Also this year, Entrepreneur Magazine recognized Proforma as the Best Business-to-Business Franchise in the miscellaneous business services category and #105 overall in a list of Top 500 Franchised Businesses.
Prior to founding and expanding Proforma/PFG Ventures, Mr. Muzzillo was with the auditing firm of Haskins and Sells (predecessor to Deloitte & Touche). In addition to his duties at PFG Ventures, Mr. Muzzillo has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Franchise Association.
Greg Muzzillo founded Proforma in 1978 with a college friend after graduating from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. Within one year, the business they started with $200 and a small filing cabinet saw its sales grow to $250,000 and their clients expand to over 300. By 1982 sales reached $1 million, and Proforma was named in Inc. Magazine’s 500 Fastest Growing Companies.
To continue Proforma’s rapid growth, Muzzillo looked to alternate routes, and in 1986, he developed the Proforma franchise model—a network of independent distributors working together to build marketing clout and strong supplier relationships, while still running their own independent businesses. This model proved successful, as Proforma, now in its fourth decade, has grown into a $250-million-dollar biz.
Today, Muzzillo, along with his wife and Co-CEO, Vera Muzzillo, leads the charge in creating the state-of-the art marketing, technology and business development initiatives that have kept Proforma a step ahead of their competitors. By providing new technologies to their member network and business support groups, Proforma has managed to create the right amount of business savvy to maintain a profitable distributorship.
With over 25 years of experience, Proforma remains clearly focused on providing solutions to North American businesses for their printing and promotional needs. A leading provider of promotional products, printing, business documents, and e-solutions, Proforma has received numerous awards and recognition.
The driving force behind Proforma’s growth is its member network of over 600 independent Owners throughout North America that has more than doubled in number, and increased systemwide sales 210% over the last five years. Proforma Owners specialize in selling solutions instead of products, which means they offer comprehensive services along with traditional offerings to truly fulfill the customer’s graphic communications needs. Services offered by Proforma Owners include print and promotional products programs, eSolutions such as online company stores, web to print programs and variable data printing, 1:1 marketing, warehousing and fulfillment and business forms and labels services.
Since its founding in 1978, Proforma has received numerous awards. In 2007, Proforma was proud to be ranked as the number one distributor by Print Solutions magazine. In the promotional product industry, Proforma has been ranked the number two distributor by Promotional Marketing magazine; the number three top distributor by Counselor magazine; and was awarded both a 2007 PEAK Award and an ASI Spirit Award for self-promotion efforts. Proforma also received a Northeast Ohio Success Award in 2007, recognizing their innovation and dedication to cutting-edge and value-training programs. •
